Weight-Loss study

Study Background

This study is researching the weight-loss effects of a new medication to treat obesity. Achieving and maintaining weight-loss decreases the risk of weight-related complications and comorbidities such as heart disease. The aim of this study is to evaluate the weight loss effects of the investigational product. The study medication is self-administered weekly. Participants will also receive diet and exercise counselling.

If you take part in this study, you will be assigned randomly to receive either the study medication or a placebo.

Study Details

The study would require you to come in for approximately 22 site visits over 2 years. Visits will range between 15 mins and 2 hours each time you come in. You will be required to self-administer the study injection weekly. At visits we will check your medical history, conduct physical examinations including ECG’s and draw blood. You will also receive diet and exercise counselling for the duration of the study.

You will be reimbursed for your time and involvement in the research study.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Aged over 18 years
  • Must have a BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2
  • Must have established cardiovascular disease (previously experienced heart attack, stroke or peripheral arterial disease)
